Granola Girl makes breakfast delicious. The local brand of cereal, good enough to eat on its own or as a sprinkle atop yogurt, was a Portobello West regular back in 2010.
“I started small and humble. I sold granola samples at local markets [like Portobello West],” says Granola Girl founder April Tioseca Bellia. “I knew people would like it; but I didn’t expect that they’d line up in droves and fall on their knees for it.”
Now the brand, which has 80% organic ingredients, is sold at some big name grocery stores like Whole Foods, PriceSmart, Save-on-Foods and Marketplace IGA. Not to mention, the countless independent chains like Donald’s and Nester’s and boutique retailers across BC. You might even see Granola Girl while enjoying a continental breakfast at the Residence Inn and Victorian Hotel in Vancouver.
Portobello West is a fashion and art market but we often have a mouth watering selection of food vendors. Anyone of them can tickle your taste buds and possibly go onto the success of Granola Girl. Say you ate it first when you visit our September and holiday markets.
