Stockpiling gifts will get you through the holiday season without being caught empty handed. Here are a few tips on how to choose items that will work when some one unexpectedly appears on your gift giving list.
1) Keep them unisex. No matter their gender everyone can appreciate a box of chocolates. If you feel the need to show off your creativity think about a flavoured salt and pepper.
2) Keep the gifts inexpensive. A bar of soap, a decorated cookie, tea; all these things could be ideal for giving gifts to people you “kinda” know.
3) Think about all age ranges. If you stockpile both fun felt animals and lovely scented candles, you’ll have your child’s pre-school friend and her mom covered.
4) Think about how the items could work together. When you get handed a gift from your landlord there’s only one thing to do. Head to your gift stockpile and combine the items into a drool worthy gift basket.
5) Buy holiday greeting cards. Give them on their own or stuff them with a bookmark, bamboo wipe or magnet for the perfect small stocking stuffer.
Portobello West’s Holiday Market happens on Saturday November 29 and Sunday November 30 from 11am-5pm at the Creekside Community Centre in the Athlete’s Village, admission $2. Listen to local musicians, bring a purse for Dress for Success, and shop a silent auction supporting Atira. The first 30 shoppers each day will receive a free swag bag!
